Here to share stories…

Welcome to the blog! Here you’ll find the tales of a muslim woman as she navigates her way through this world, whilst holding onto her faith.

Most people on the internet call me Rimz after my instagram handles, I’m a final year medical student & this is where I come to share my thoughts and what I have learned with the world. This blog was my very first form of social media, it’s a place I cherish and hold close to my heart, it’s where everything began. I hope and pray you take something from each piece that’s posted; be that a smile, a lesson or a valuable nugget of knowledge. This space is for us all to grow in, it always has been and always will be.

What kinds of posts can you expect to see?

This space is where I return to from time to time to document and reflect on key aspects of my life and lives of others. I’ve been blogging here for almost a decade and have never planned to stay consistent so won’t sell you dreams of regular reads but I pop in here and there leaving behind a piece of my mind. The main topics I will be speaking and posting about are Medicine, Islam and my personal life experiences. I also have a guest writers section where I open up my platform to those without one to speak about topics of their choice

The philosophy behind the name – StrugglesSpeaks was born as a pen name. It was the name I gave to the author behind the poetry I used to write back in 2014 when all this began. I didn’t want to use my own name, I still don’t despite my name no longer being kept secret, but I wanted to speak and share the struggles behind a lot of what those around me and I go through without making it too personal so StrugglesSpeaks was created. Since then I’ve moved onto my instagram handles (@your_ukht_rimzy_ and @findingdrrimzy) which are a little more personal and highlight different aspects of my life but, StrugglesSpeaks is where it began and what brings it all together.

‘Let loose all your worries, all your fears and tears.
Show the world who you really are, there is no need to be scared.’
